On the 13th June 2011 the Trust unveiled a Blue Plaque in Chulmleigh Devon commem orating George Lanchester who lived there for 20 years during his retirement.  He was working as a consultant and editor of various publications during this time. George was  an adept wood carver and created a great many ornate walking sticks using trimmings from the Devon hedgerows.  The Walking sticks are displayed in the Lanchester Room at Coventry University Library.
The House he lived in at Chulmleigh has some unique Lanchester door locks. Carved by George from wood and with no metal parts they still provide good service.
